There are times in life when we must take a risk or a chance. We must dare. Crossing the street ought to be done with proper care, but it is still a risk because we can misjudge speeds, a driver can be distracted or someone can make a sudden change. If we dare nothing, we cannot hope to receive something. Stepping out in faith is something God demands of all. Responding or daring is how we learn that He is indeed there (Malachi 3:10).

The story of David the shepherd boy who slew Goliath is the story of one who dared with proper preparation and with trust in God. It may be foolhardy to dare foolish things, but life is full when we have a goal in mind and dare to venture into the unknown toward that goal. Crossing a sea takes more than staring over the water—it takes more than wishing.
