It is easy to become discouraged when one listens to the news on TV or reads the paper. So many people suffering all over the world, wars, hunger and strife.

Yet there remains an abundance of beauty. There's beauty in the things our young people accomplish, in the fresh minds that discover and make wonderful things. There's beauty in God's creation, in a small seed put into the ground and watered until it grows into a beautiful flower or a delicious vegetable. There's beauty in moonlight on a carpet of fresh snow and in the eyes of a newborn baby.

Paul advised us to think on things that are beautiful. When we do, the world is brighter (Philippians 4:8). Our world is in a sad state, but there is beauty if one looks for it.
