Man has the ability to fix certain things that are broken. Some are good at mechanical things and can fix cars or even computers. Others can fix houses or restore antiques. We can fix many things that we made. But who can fix something nonphysical like a broken heart, a despondent spirit, a depressed mind or one who has been hurt or crushed by life’s circumstances? Sometimes we can feel a bit like the old nursery rhyme about "Humpty Dumpty" who had a great fall, and all the king's horses and all the king's men, couldn't put him together again.

But there is a solution. "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new" (2 Corinthians 5:17). Yes! Jesus fixes ruined things. Christ is an expert at fixing lives; from those that were in the gutter to those that were affluent, successful and lost. He knows how to fix broken hearts and broken families, to find those who have lost hope. "The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit," wrote David (Psalm 34:18, New International Version).
