Great talkers seem to have very little else to do. We experience that in our politicians sometimes. Some will say what people want to hear in order to get their votes, but the talker has little intention of actually following through. Politicians of all stripes know that people have "itching ears." (2 Timothy 4:3). That means that people will flock to the one who tells them what they want to hear.

We are to be watchful towards those who talk a lot and do little. The product of a great talker is often measured by the distance we have gone from the truth. If we have itching ears, we become vulnerable to fables and tales that meet our preconceived ideas, thoughts and hopes. We can fall prey to "smooth words" (Isaiah 30:10), and deceits are not far away. Look for a person whose actions speak louder than the words he uses, and let your words be few and your actions many.
