At no other time in history have we been so bombarded with opportunities to travel, live more abundantly, possess more and learn more than any generation this world has known. At the same time, our levels of discontentment and confusion have reached equally high levels. Mankind, it would seem, has lost its reason for existing.

Or perhaps more accurately, having lost sight of the important goals in life, we as a culture have come to believe that existing is the purpose of living.

Many live day by day as though that is the real purpose for being on earth. Life is becoming a search for convenience and ease. In this search, we have lost the very tools needed to meet the challenges of an ever-changing world. Rather than growing wiser, we are confused and unsure of our choice of a vocation, mate, home and almost everything else.

King Solomon recognized the simple conclusion of the matter: “Fear God and keep His commandments” (Ecclesiastes 12:13). God, as the One who is able to do “exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think” (Ephesians 3:20), knows how to make our lives the best they can be. If we submit to and follow God with our whole hearts, He will reward us with a purpose far beyond our wildest dreams.
