"No man is prejudiced in favor of a thing knowing it to be wrong. He is attached to it on the belief of its being right," wrote American founding father Thomas Paine. We can choose the "facts" to arrive at our conclusions without realizing that we have virtually hypnotized ourselves.

Every man does what is right in his own eyes (Judges 21:25). Even if our information is in error, if we believe it, for us it becomes "fact." But the only real authority on what is right is our Creator. God tells us what pleases Him. We can choose to ignore that—convince ourselves that He does not really mean it—or we can believe Him.
