Almost all we do in life is wrapped up in our needs, inner drives and areas of self-interest. The Bible does tell us to love ourselves, but it wraps that up with loving our neighbor (Matthew 19:19).

If our wrapping is all self-driven, without considering others, we will indeed have a small package. We cannot change the fact that we have the need to be loved. Interestingly, though, we cannot be loved unless we are willing to love. When we send love out to others, it comes back to us with the best wrapping of all—the other person's love!
