It seems the young are getting brighter and brighter with each generation. But being bright is not, by itself, all that is needed for success. "Genius without education is like silver in a mine," someone once wrote. Education is the training of the mind. It involves not only filling the mind with information, but actually training that mind to sort, assimilate, comprehend, assess and use that information. Education can become the development of character that is needed for control of the self and for developing the ability to mine the genius God has given.

Blessed is the child who begins with the fear of God as the foundation of wisdom and then adds knowledge, instruction, discretion and learning (Proverbs 1:1-7). Silver that is buried in a mine is of no use to anyone. It takes work and effort to bring forth something of great value. There is little more important in life than awakening the human mind to the mind of God!
