If Christians display aversion to evolution, it is because it contradicts the revelation of Scripture, which is the basis of Christian beliefs. Genesis does tell us how God formed Adam and Eve, and it clearly does not explain it in evolutionary terms.

In recent times some have tried to harmonize the biblical account of creation with evolution, theorizing that God used evolution as the means to bring about life, including human life. This perspective, called theistic evolution, is attractive
to some because it supposedly allows one to believe in both God and evolution. In reality, however, evolution cannot be harmonized with the biblical account of creation.

Jesus reinforced the Genesis account when He stated in Matthew 19:4, "Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning 'made them male and female' . . . ?" Jesus clearly taught His followers that the Old Testament writings were true, and He is obviously referring to the account as
it is written in Genesis 1.

The apostle Paul also affirms a nonevolutionary description when he writes in 1 Timothy 2:13, "For Adam was formed first, then Eve." Evolution does not claim that a man first evolved, then a woman. In the Bible, God reveals that He made Adam and then made Eve (Genesis 1-2). He did not just put an evolutionary process in motion.

The reality is that the "fossil, geological and biological records" are anything but clear in supporting evolution, regardless of what many would say. In Vertical Thought we regularly present some of the scientific evidence that not only contradicts evolution, but shows its impossibility.

Of course, in addition to all the scientific evidence that the evolution of the various species found on earth, including mankind, could not have taken place, we reject this theory because it is in direct contradiction to the revelation of God.

Much more could be said about this entire subject, and we recommend you look at our archives on the Vertical Thought Web site. A couple of articles you might find interesting are A Course on Evolution and Faith, and The Case Against Evolution. The United Church of God has also published a free booklet that addresses this subject, Creation or Evolution: Does It Really Matter What You Believe? It shows how the scientific evidence doesn't really fit with Darwinian evolution and contains many startling admissions from evolutionists demonstrating the flaws in their viewpoint.

Why in the world would we embrace it?

I agree with ucg's answer on this one, evolution and the Bible can't go together, if God says he created animals (according to it's kind) and separately created man then it's so, I'm just really against evolution cause it tries to take credit from God and next they force it in schools and try to teach it as facts buts it's really nothing but a poor theory, I've studied evolution some well as much as it needs to be but there's just to many problems with it being possible and one of it's biggest problems is the missing fossils of the transition stage if it was true there should be millions of those fossils but there is none and there's a lot more problems, the booklet on this web site (creation or evolution, does it really matter what you believe?)is a good one to read that points out the problems, but anyway I just don't get how anyone can believe the Bible and evolution can work together like how evolution is taught in catholic schools and some Christians say they believe in both, but who knows in this crazy world.

I dont know if evolution contradicts the bible..Really what both sides are arguing about is time.God said he formed man. When you form anything it takes time. One day can be a billion years to God.One year a virus can be killed with antibiotics,Next year it evolves and is immune to the antibiotic.Look at the mud skipper,If any animal today is in the middle of a transformation, they are on top of the list.I belive in God 100%.I will keep an open mind because with God all things are possible. Why wouldn't God just plant seeds and let The wonder of nature take it's course, mabey tweeking things here and there to suit what or how he want's it.I think we have to take the evidence and see how it fit's with the bible instead of arguing. How are you ever going to turn alot of people to God if we argue that there is no way at all that ,that or this is in no way possible when the scripture is vauge. You can interpet scripture in a way that goes with evoloution. It says in the bible that one day could be a thousand years to God..What dose that mean? When you form something you form it.You dont snap your fingers and poof ..It's all of a sudden there..Im sure God could do that if he wanted to. Really if you read in the bible the steps and the way God created the Earth it really goes with how They say it all came together, everybody just is really arguing about the time it took to do it.

When you form anything, it takes time??

Yes with humans. It doesn't have to take time with God.

And yes the Bible absolutely 100% fact that it contradicts with Evolution.
