Family Education
UCG Youth Instruction Program
The Amplified Version of the Bible gives important directions regarding parent’s responsibility to their children:
Deuteronomy 6:6 {AMP} And these words which I am commanding you this day shall be [first] in your [own] minds and hearts; [then] :7 You shall whet and sharpen them so as to make them penetrate, and teach and impress them diligently upon the [minds and] hearts of your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down and when you rise up.
As a church, we are assessing how to be more effective with church youth instruction by emphasizing a Deuteronomy 6 “parents first” model, where the church supports and supplements parent’s teaching, but does not supplant their responsibility.
The Family Education web resources is designed to help families become more effective teachers of their children. These kinds of things are available online:
• Family Study guides and resource materials that can be used to increase your own understanding of God’s teachings and how to incorporate His way into your lives, and then that of your children.
• Instructional materials that youth instructors in local congregations can use to supplement the learning done at home.
• Useful ideas, hints and tips that can help you learn how to relate to your children and help to them develop a better understanding of the Bible, and an improved relationship with God.
• A site to blog or share with other families things of interest or what is working.
• The Teen Bible Study Guides tab will give tips for family studies and topics to study with your teens.
• The Festival Youth Instruction tab is where you can find festival booklets, lessons and activities.
• The Jelly Videos can also be found here.
