If you just look for self-gratification, then life has no purpose, because it is no more purposeful than an animal foraging for its food. An animal needs to be cared for or take care of itself. That is where its purpose ends. Some look for the meaning of life by traveling all over the globe. Some think that getting into the wilderness will give them the purpose they are looking for. Some think experiencing physical and emotional extremes may give them the answer.

Do we know and understand why we were born? We are not here to fulfill our own desires. The pursuit of happiness should not be our only goal. There is a vast difference between man's purpose and God's purpose for this life—and God does have a purpose (Ecclesiastes 3:1-17; 1 John 3:1-3).
