We humans seem to have an uncanny ability to quickly reach the level of dissatisfaction with almost anything we gain or possess. Those with great riches yearn for greater, having enough often gives way to wanting more, and true satisfaction—the lasting kind—seems fleeting.

Proverbs 27:20 tells us that the eyes of man are never satisfied, and Ecclesiastes 1:8 informs us that not only are the eyes not satisfied, but the ear is also not filled with hearing. We want more—and more.

A great lesson is to learn to be content with what we have (Hebrews 13:5). That means we need to appreciate what we have and treasure it so that we can more fully appreciate any addition that comes our way. We can learn to be satisfied—with God’s help we can find this inner peace.
