The Big Cover-up
Some time ago this item appeared in the newspaper:
“Road Crews Pave Over Dead Deer”
“Andreas, Pa.: State transportation officials are trying to find out why workers paved straight over a dead deer. A gooey spread of oil and rocks was left covering the deer’s head, neck and shoulders” (Spokesman-Review, Spokane, Washington, Aug. 23, 1996).
What were they thinking? It seems incredible. But aren’t there times we’ve tried to hide our mistakes and sins when they were painfully obvious to others—just like a dead deer smack dab on the side of the road?
“He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy” (Proverbs 28:13).
Time to back up the paving equipment and let God dig out and remove the dead deer.
