The bee puts its whole life on the line when it gives a sting. That is devotion to duty. Likewise, each person has but one life to give—to what end would it be wise and effective to devote that life? Some people devote their life to science, education or the pursuit of personal happiness. Some give their lives in the service of their country and its leaders. Some are devoted to family and the well being of others.

Though there are many noble and admirable sacrifices people make, there can be none greater than devoting one’s life to pleasing our Creator. God demands nothing less than that kind of devotion from those He invites into eternity (Romans 12:1). He calls it our “reasonable service”—and considering what He has done for us and what He promises to us, it is!
