How true it is that if we fear taking a risk, we will not make progress. Life is full of risks—like crossing the street or just getting out of bed in the morning. Jesus obviously expected people to enter into ventures in order to gain (Matthew 25:20). He was displeased with the person who buried the little he had and gained nothing.

Jesus also gave good advice to those who were entering a venture. He said to be sure to count the cost so that you have enough to complete the task (Luke 14:28). That which we risk ought to have a good chance of bringing a gain. That does require the effort to gather the information needed and come to know as much as possible about the venture. Look before you leap, but strive to leap!
