An analysis of those words points toward a far deeper and better communication of ideas and thoughts when our words are more than simply academic. "In his language" implies touching something that is dear to the other, close to his heart, important to him. That is a far cry from a conversation that does not lead to the fulfillment of needs.

God wrote the Ten Commandments on tablets of stone. They were good for everyone in that they were there for all to see, but the people did not come to love His laws and recognize the goodness that was intended. God has introduced a second plan in which He will write those Commandments on the heart and put them in our minds (Jeremiah 31:33). God knows the value of talking to the heart of man.

So how is that idea by Nelson Mandela and the way it is presented relevant to Matthew 15:19? "For out of the heart come evil ideas, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander." From my working experience and knowing some people, their actions have shown several of the behaviors mentioned in that scripture. The reasons they give for them tend to be close to the person's "heart" and are important to them.

Mr. Mandela appears to be communicating a concept I have seen stated thus: "In the right key, people will hear your music, in the wrong key, they won't". It is a matter of knowing how to address someone Specifically. We are all similar and yet, different. To address someone specifically we need to find how to talk to their "heart". Your understanding of Matthew 15:19 is correct. However Jesus is speaking about the motivating force for human behaviors which you have already witnessed, not so much about how we can more effectively communicate with each other. Because the "carnal mind" is enmity against the Law of God and the "heart is deceitful above all things", human beings without God's Holy Spirit, are particularly susceptible to acting from a heart that is deceived and in contradiction to the Law of God. Of course, that leads to all the sordid behaviors outlined in Matthew and that you observed and can observe daily in today's news.
