[Audio Recording - Franklin D. Roosevelt] Yesterday, December 7th, 1941, a date which will live in infamy.

[Steve Myers] Today is December 7th—a date that will live in infamy.

[Darris McNeely] It's the 70th Anniversary of the Japanese attack on American forces at Pearl Harbor. Quite a day in American history, one that catapulted America into World War II. Caught America completely off guard, in fact when they shouldn't have been because they had intelligence that told them an attack was building. But by the time they figured it all out, Steve, it was too late.

[Steve Myers] They hadn't put the pieces together and it's an amazing thing that 60 years after Pearl Harbor, a similar thing happened on 9/11. We had intelligence, we knew the possibilities, but we didn't act on the warning.

[Darris McNeely] And it's still a dangerous world that we live in. There are still enemies and forces that are willing and wanting to attack, threatening to attack, America and other Western nations, other freedom loving peoples as well. The world is a very dangerous place. In fact, Bible prophecy tells us that we are still heading very quickly to the time that is described as the Day of the Lord.

[Steve Myers] Christ is going to return. Those warning messages are out there to this world. The end time is near. So, what are we going to do about it? Are we heeding the warnings? That's an important question we all need to ask. What are doing about the warnings that are out there?

[Darris McNeely] In 1 Thessalonians chapter 5, the Apostle Paul wrote and said that "the Day of the Lord can come as a thief in the night. For when they say 'peace and safety,' then sudden destruction comes upon them as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape" (1 Thessalonians 5:2-4). A thief in the night. Things can happen very, very quickly. Attacks, even in our modern world, when we think that we are at peace and safe, can still take place that could change radically our world, your way of life and mine, and catapult us into these events that are described in Bible prophecy.

[Steve Myers] Yeah, and through Bible prophecy we're given the intelligence, the spiritual intelligence. So we should be able to look at the world scene and see what's happening in Iraq and Iran and Syria and Egypt. Just go through the whole gamut of the nations that are having so many problems today, and let alone all of the economics that are out there that are having difficulties. So, do we heed the warning message? What do we do?

[Darris McNeely] The way to understand Bible prophecy is to keep our eyes focused upon God. That's what the Apostle Paul said here in 1 Thessalonians 5, he said, "Let us not sleep as other's do, but let us watch and be sober and not sleep as others do in a type of drunkenness." He said, "We who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love and as a helmet, the hope of salvation. God has not appointed us to wrath. He has died for us," he says, "That whether we wake or sleep we should live together with Him" (1 Thessalonians 5:6-10) Bible prophecy, Steve, when you read through the end of the story, through the end of the chapter, always points us to the hope of a relationship with God and a better life today by living righteously before God. That's where our true peace and safety is. That is the out of the box thinking that we need to have when we act upon the right spiritual intelligence that comes from God's word to not only warn us, but to also give us hope for the future.

[Steve Myers] There is hope for the future, so listen to the warning message. Develop that relationship with God. Stay close to Him. That's the lesson we need to learn.

[Darris McNeely] That's BT Daily.  Join us next time.
