Many Bible passages refer to horses, but one specifically refers to our life under the direction of God's reins. Are we following His lead?

Transcript

[Steve Myers] I'm here at the NRHA (National Reining Horse Association) Futurity and Championship Show in Oklahoma City and we've been watching the horses compete in the various events here with my son, James. And I was reminded of all the different examples in the Bible where horses are used. Whether it was Pharaoh chasing out the Israelites with the horses and chariots or whether it's the four horsemen that are mentioned in the book of Revelation and even the white horse that Christ will return on.

One example that came to mind specifically for me was an example used in Psalm 26 verse 2 where the psalmist says "Try my reins."

And as we watch the different horses ride around here at the show, in reining, they hardly use the reins. They use them just to guide them, just to give the horses as little direction as possible, but as needed to get them to do what's expected so they can do all the various maneuvers. And you know, in a way, that's what God wants from us.

When the psalmist said, "Examine me, prove my heart, test, try the reins." That's what Psalm 26:2 talks about. Are we taking His direction? Or does He have to yank on our reins? Does He have to pull us? You know, we should be following God's direction. We need to be following His lead.

So let's keep that in mind as we think about the blessings that God has given us. We can ask Him to prove our heart, to try our reins.

That's BT Daily. We'll see you tomorrow.
