The debate over gay marriage has not been prime news lately but it will return soon. A vote was held in Kansas and a stricter law barring marriage between any other than a man and woman was passed with 70% of the vote. The measure include this wording, "no relationship ... shall be recognized by the state as entitling the parties to the rights or incidents of marriage." As this article in the Christian Science Monitor goes on to show, this issue is causing religious as well as political division.

No doubt at some point it will be thrown in the courts for a decision, thus once more involving the judicial branch as a tool of legal and social change.
