By Your Patience Possess Your Souls
When Jesus Christ prophesied about the signs and trials of the end time, He said to His followers: “By your patience possess your souls” (Luke 21:19).
Patience and long-suffering are the ability to wait on God, without a single doubt in our hearts and minds that He has the perfect and flawless will. It is the choice to actively trust and obey God, no matter what we face.
When we doubt God in the trials of life, we are essentially telling Him that He is incapable of caring for us with unconditional love, and that we know better than Him. Not only does it devalue God in our eyes, it also turns our hearts to be dissatisfied with our Creator.
James, the brother of Jesus Christ, said to all Christians in the Church of God: “Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your [patience] has a chance to grow. So let it grow.” He continued on to say, “If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you…But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not [doubt], for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord” (James 1:2-7, NLT).
In our Christian walk towards the Kingdom of God, let us always remain faithful to the will of God and continue to patiently wait for the glory of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
