Finally, after days of deliberating the jury returned a guilty verdict in the trial of Dr. Herbert Gosnell, the Philadelphia abortion doctor accused of running a filthy charnel house euphemistically called an "abortion clinic". All done of course under the protective cloak of law that allows doctors to rip human life from the womb of a mother. I hope he spends the remainder of his life behind bars dealing with the consequences of his actions, and maybe by the grace of God coming in time to a measure of guilt, the first step toward redemption.

Nothing decided by any judge or jury can restore the lives of these unborn children, or the those who were born and decapitated while whimpering on a cold table. No decree of justice will bring back to life Karnamaya Mongar, a 41-year-old woman who died from an overdose of anesthetic drugs during an abortion procedure.

Abortion rights proponents have long called for "legal, safe and rare" procedures. After hearing the grisly details of this story I don't see how any sane person, calling themselves human, can say that forty years of legalized abortion in America has produced such an environment. "Legal" murder of the unborn will kill a nation. There is nothing "safe" about a surgical procedure that rips flesh from flesh, the very essence of the divine pathway to life. And "rare"? The revelations of this trial leave one wondering how many other such clinics are operating without any regulation from state authorities.

Abortion is murder. Those doctors and nurses who perform abortions are murderers or assist in committing murder. The grisly details of this case in Philadelphia, the city of brotherly love, is another stroke of handwriting on the wailing wall of shame in America.  The nation is being tried in the balance and the evidence clearly shows a people lacking in judgment and mercy. Unless there is a repentance God’s day of judgment will come.

@Mr. Fles, Re: "equally culpable of murder": Elsewhere, Mr. McNeely strongly addresses this fact: "It is murder...[to] say that human life...can be disposed of at will and at any time during the nine months of pregnancy...[It is murder to say that] a woman can decide the power of life or death on a growing child created in the image of God": http://www.ucg.org/christian-living/abortion-debate-what-does-god-say/ @RevPage, Re: "with repentance, there is forgiveness": The profound truth that "God forgives [each one of us of sin] upon true repentance" is indeed of tremendous importance. Mr. McNeely discusses this here: http://www.ucg.org/beyond-today-daily/christian-living/hope-beyond-abortion

Mr. McNeely, you seem to forget that the woman seeking the abortion is a material accomplice to the crime/sin and equally culpable of murder as well. They, too, ought to face the consequences of their acts. The only victim is the unborn child.

Gosnell will spend the rest of his life behind bars. To avoid the death penalty, he gave up all rights to appeal the verdict of the court. He was given three life sentences without parole.

God has shown how much He loves life! He sent His Son to die that we might live. Your article is spot on, in that the sin of abortion must be faced and we as a nation must come to terms with it -- God hates the taking of life, and it's a true statement: The most dangerous place in America is a mother's womb. Our acceptance of abortion places us in the same place as those who actually do the deed. However, the point I don't see in your article is that, with repentance, there is forgiveness, and with forgiveness there is life. I know God condemns abortion and those who participate in this most unGodly activity must repent and receive God's gift of forgiveness. And, you and I must also repent and work more aggressively to stop the legitimizing of killing babies -- whether 1 day old or 9 months or anywhere in between. I rejoice that I am a forgiven sinner! May the Holy Spirit work mightily in Dr Gosnell's heart and he come to know that his actions were evil and may he receive the forgiveness he needs. The last sentence in your article must be focused upon -- and I pray that when Jesus returns He finds a nation in repentance. May God's peace be with you and yours.
