Jesus Christ gave up his mantle as God and became a human being. He lived a perfect life for 33 years, then was killed (in a very horrible and monstrous way—by crucifixion). Why? So that every human being who has ever lived could be given the chance to live forever. There's a bit more to understand, of course, but that's it in a nutshell. Son of God is a movie about the life, ministry and death of Jesus Christ. It was edited down to feature length from the 10-hour History Channel mini-series The Bible from last year. It premieres in theaters today and has so far received mostly poor reviews from the critics.

If you plan to see it, why not brush up on His teachings and life ahead of time by reading some of the book of John or any of the other three written accounts of Jesus' life? He said some profound stuff that hasn't just changed the world, but also can change your life.
