I was thinking one day about Mary, the mother of Jesus; I wondered what kind of young lady she must have been. To be chosen by God to be worthy to carry His Son inside her body. I wonder how she felt to have such an honor?

It got me to thinking about myself. Could I be a Mary?

We never know what grand and wondrous things God has in store for us. We never know what God may call us to do. I’m sure Mary never thought that one day she would carry the Son of God and give birth to Him. She had no warning until the angel approached her and told her the news: “But the angel said to her, ‘Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God’” (Luke 1:30). She found favor with God.

Would I find favor with God? Would you? If God needed you right now to help with some part of His plan, would He find you favorable?

Thinking about this has really opened my eyes to make sure I try every moment of my life to be ready to do whatever God would ask me to do. We never know what He has in store for us so I want to be sure if He needs me, I could be a Mary.

If this gets you to thinking about your own life and you are wondering how could you be a Mary, I have four suggestions you may want to try.

1. Pray

Ask God to help you draw closer to Him and to help you see what areas in your life that may need changing. Talk to Him daily. He is your Father and loves you and wants a relationship with you.

2. Repent

If you know there are sins in your past, repent and ask God to help you overcome those sins.

3. Study

Take time to read and study your Bible. It’s called our “daily bread,” and we should partake in it every day.

4. Serve

This shows love to others. Jesus said “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many” (Mark 10:45).

Stop and consider your life. Thinking about this has really opened my eyes. We never know what God will have us do in life. I will keep asking myself daily, and I challenge you to do the same: Could you be a Mary?
