Does God really care about me and how can I be sure?

Transcript

[Steve Myers] When you get down and discouraged, sometimes it feels maybe God is a little bit farther away than you really want Him to be. And that comes down to our perspective so many times. It seems when we are going through difficulties and trials, situations that try us, God can seem a little bit farther off. But there is a section of scripture, I think, that is so encouraging when we have a tendency to feel like that. We can actually turn to this section in the Psalms.

In Psalm 138:8, it says something that’s very powerful that should help change our perspective. Here’s what God says – it says that “the Lord will perfect that which concerns me”. What it points to is this sense that what I’m worried about, what I’m concerned about, what I’m discouraged about, the trials that I’m going through – it says that God’s going to take care of that. God is concerned about what I’m concerned about. God, it says, is going to perfect, or basically, He’s going to watch over me. He’s going to have my back when it comes to my life, and watch out for me so that these things will be okay. It will be all right.  It will, like Romans 8:28 says, it will work out for good, because I love God. And so when I keep trusting God, when I keep obeying God, when I believe with all my heart, I have faith in God, this is what God tells us. In fact, right before this it says, “His right hand will save me”. That’s not just, you know, a nice idea. But here, we could write that down. That’s a promise of God.

And so God is watching out for us. He does have concern for us, and He is concerned about what we’re concerned about. Keep that in mind.

Well, that’s BT Daily. We’ll see you next time.
