[Steve Myers] We can have confidence even in the little things. There's a man mentioned in the Bible that maybe you've never heard of before. His name is Elishama, and he's mentioned in Jeremiah 36:20. He's very interesting because he's not. Here in this particular passage, it says, "They went to the king. They stored the scroll in the chamber of Elishama, the scribe, and told all the words in the hearing of the king."

So here we just have a mention of this man, and there's a couple of other little mentions throughout the book of Jeremiah of Elishama. Now, what's interesting about him is a number of years ago there was an archaeological dig done about 44 miles from Jerusalem. And they found all kinds of clay bulla. Clay seals. Seals that seal documents. And what's interesting is they found a clay seal with Elishama, and his name on it, with the inscription, "The servant of the king."

It, basically, verifies that this was a real man, at the time of Jeremiah, in the right place, and everything matched perfectly with what the Bible says about this man. And so even in the tiniest of things, we see evidence that God's Word is true. Evidence that God breathed His Word. And we can take confidence. We can take heart, even in the uninteresting things, because Elishama points to the very fact that the Bible is God's Word. And we can ultimately then have an assurance that we can trust what it says, and we can order our lives by the Word of God.
