Beauty in the Chaos
All around the world, there seems to be a lot of chaos and confusion right now. The coronavirus has had a huge impact on the whole earth. Many people are without work, wondering how to take care of their families. People are separated from loved ones. People are dying, alone in hospitals. The things that we once called “normal” seem so far away and we wonder if we will ever see “normal” again.
You might not have noticed, but there is beauty in this chaos. Have you seen it? I see it when I see families are out walking together. I see it when more people are staying home and eating meals together. I see it when creativity has blossomed like flowers and people are finding more ways to stay connected than ever before. I see it when people are reaching out to help small businesses with things like take out orders and buying gift cards to use later. I see people pulling together for the greater good.
Don't Worry
I’m not naïve to think only good is coming from this. There are plenty of bad things still happening right now. But why focus on those things?
The Bible tells us in Philippians 4:6-8 to be anxious for nothing and to focus and meditate on things that are true, noble, just, pure, lovely; whatever things are of good report and virtuous, and to concentrate on things worthy of praise. If we just followed this one set of scripture, imagine how this would help us to stay calm and focus on the positives.
Many things may seem lost or taken from us right now, but try not to focus on those things. We must keep looking forward and give thanks for what we do have. Focus on the fact that we have a Father who loves us more than we can comprehend. We have an Elder Brother who loves us so much that He died for us. They want nothing more than to have us be a part of that Family forever. No one can ever take that away from us.
Right now God has given us this gift of extra time. Try to see it as a gift! Extra time to be with our families and more time to spend with Him and in His Word. Take time each day to find something to be thankful for and praise God for it! Sing a hymn and give thanks to God. Staying connected to God the Father and Jesus Christ will help you stay calm and have peace when hard times come our way.
No matter what we face in this life, there is always a chance to look for and see beauty in the chaos.
